5-1/4" (13.5 cm) shaft, 7" (18.0 cm) handle  Smith Nerve Root Suction Retractor is a specially designed retractor for use in a wide variety of neurosurgical procedures. This retractor is ideally suited for retraction of nerve roots during procedures such as spinal surgery that require manipulation of delicate nerve tissue. It features an angled neck to reach deep into the surgical field while keeping the handle clear of it. Additionally this instrument features a handle that can have a suction tube affixed to the end enabling it to remove blood and other fluid which keeps the surgical field clear.

11-3/4" (30.0 cm) Smithwick Nerve Hook and Dissector is a multi functioning instrument well suited for use in neurosurgical procedures such as spinal surgery or craniotomies. This instrument is double ended and on one end features a nerve hook and on the other a dissector. The nerve hook end features a slightly acute turn that can be used to retract nerves or other delicate tissue during surgery. Additionally the opposing end is equipped with a blunt dissector that can be used in general exploration without causing injury or bruising to surrounding delicate tissue areas.

It features a flat design with a slight curvature at the handle and neck giving it a slightly angled shape. Additionally the handle is fenestrated and the head features three blunt prongs so it can grasp soft tissue without causing rips or tears. This retractor can be used to pull back from initial incision sites to expose the surgical field or during surgery to further clear access to the site of surgery.
